There are so many different disc manufacturers and types of discs out there that it can be overwhelming. BUT who doesn’t love buying new plastic? See three discs you may not have heard of that you should consider next time you get the itch to make a purchase.
DGA Squall
This disc fits into an interesting slot as a 6-speed right in-between your midranges and fairways. Sporting a thinner, shallow rim than a fairway but sharper edge than a midrange, it makes for a fantastic flight. Typically, they are incredibly neutral with a flat feel. It feels like this disc was born for woods golf – it holds lines, handles torque, and surprisingly holds up in winds decently. The best comparison is a longer-flying Buzz or Hex.

Latitude64 Flow
This disc may become a little less slept on following Matty O’s recent win at the 2023 MVP Open, but nonetheless, not enough people are throwing it. The Lat64 Flow is an 11-speed disc with endless glide with plenty of stability. Typically, these are domey with a very comfortable rim, especially for people with smaller hands that may find 12 or higher-speed discs uncomfortable. The Flow is not something we’ve had success forehanding but it can hold any line you throw it on backhand. If you have tried a Wraith, Anax, or Grace and they aren’t for you, give the Flow a try!

Dynamic Discs Sergeant
Last but not least, we finally dip our toes into some real overstability. The DD Sergeant is a flat, 11-speed driver that is the perfect compliment to someone who throws Graces, Wraiths, Flows(see above), or any other 10/11-speed driver that is understable to neutral. It has plenty of overstability and torque resistance to handle headwinds, both forehand and backhand. If Destroyers and Rives are too overstable for you (they probably are), the Sergeant may be the perfect disc for you!

Hopefully you consider trying one of these out next time you go disc shopping – I personally bag all three of these myself, and they have saved me tons of strokes over the years! Cheers!
