What to Do When You Have a Bad Take

We’ve all been there – we swore up and down a pro couldn’t win anymore and they do, a certain style of course wouldn’t work on the Pro Tour but it does, or the Berg actually *does* have glide (the jury is still out on that last one). The internet rarely forgets what you said and you can be sure they will let you know when you have a horrible disc golf take – so how do you handle it?

The first step is easy – just admit you may have jumped the gun a little bit with your take and that you’re wrong. Nothing is more painful to watch than someone dying on a hill of an egregious take. All you’re doing is discrediting any future opinions you may have and giving the not-very-nice people of the internet ammo to hurl at you.

What else can you do? Simple – be more mindful of your takes and make sure you have information to back anything you are saying/posting, especially if it is considered a “hot take”. Make sure you can have that mic drop moment when someone is coming after you.

So, keep dropping those hot takes – they are entertaining, thought-provoking, and can bring about really good discussions but beware, you could be the next victim of Reddit downvoting and Twitter(X?) shaming when the disc golf community comes for you.

Cheers!
